Meet Abrion James Wood
Abrion, is the inspiration behind Neuron Nurturer's and one of the true blessings of the Wood family.
He is the second oldest of four children and surrounded by love and support, from many family members and friends.
Abrion was a healthy 8 lbs 3 oz baby, born in San Francisco, California on January 28th, 2008.
From pre-delivery to post-delivery, Abrion seemed absolutely healthy.
Even after a full year of visits to the pediatrician's office, Abrion's health and development, was deemed great.
Until it wasn't...
After one of Abrion's doctor's visits at about 2 years old, Abrion's health was never the same.
Abrion received multiple vaccinations that day at the doctor's office.
His parents, Terrence and Delisa, noticed a distinct difference in Abrion's behavior and willingness to engage with his family members and friends, after that doctor's visit.
Restless nights, temper tantrums, loss of language and stemming activities, began to manifest.
Something was definitely wrong.
At the age of 2, Abrion was officially diagnosed as Autistic, by one of the pioneers in Autism research, Bryna Siegel PhD.
Abrion, was also given the prognosis of most likely, being non-verbal the rest of his life, and never possessing an IQ that would be able to comprehend the function of a light-switch.
Needless to say, that prognosis wasn't an option for Abrion's parents or his future.
Due to a ton of faith, change in diet, hours of therapy and alternative approaches to Abrion's healing.
Things began to drastically change.
Today, Abrion has graduated from junior high, is preparing for his Sophomore year in high school, and has surpassed all expectations.
He loves to read, ride his bike, solve puzzles, tease his siblings and Face Time with his best friend Saddanth.
Typical teenage boy stuff.
A far cry from not being able to comprehend what a light-switch is used for...
